Leading in Change

This project will support TSI boards and senior staff to develop their skills for dynamic, creative and collaborative leadership with a view to enabling them to better support and facilitate voluntary organisations to effect, anticipate, prepare for and influence change.

The Leading in Change project commenced with an analysis of the leadership and governance skills and capacities that CVS, and the CVS network, require to respond effectively to emerging agendas, changes and challenges. Learning and developmental needs across the network in relation to this were also identified. In this we drew on research collected by Cranfield University into governance and leadership in the Scottish voluntary sector, from which aggregate, non attributable, findings about CVS are available.  The Cranfield reports can be viewed within our reports page on our information library.

The above information and analysis informed the design of the following:

  • A leadership development programme for CVS /TSI Chairs and Chief Officers
  • A governance development programme for CVS/TSI board members
  • CVS /TSI Chief Officer mentoring

While these programmes aim primarily to meet the needs of CVS, scope was explored for opening learning and development opportunities to voluntary sector infrastructure organisations more generally.

Four LiC learning Events took place with CVS, VCs and Social Enterprise organisations taking part across 27 local authority areas.  The learning events included the opportunity for participants to complete the Institute of Leadership & Management SQF level 8 Award.

An evaluation report is available on our reports page of the  information library.

Information on the organisations that participated in the Learning Events can be found on the SVA participation map.
